Office 2013 – top features of Microsoft Office 2013

On my personal experience I can confidently say that; any person in the world who is new to computer and want to learn something about computer then he /she always demands for learning Microsoft Office. The reason is also obvious. MS Office simplifies many day to day activities for all of us. Every new launch of ms office has taken a step towards simplifying our life tremendously.
Yes! I agree that, to get comfortable with new versions of ms office; it takes time. But once you are through, then there is no problem. I am sure every one of us must be having same kind of experience with ms office various versions.
If you observe the history of ms office releases, the changes in different versions were not big or they were addendum to the existing features. However, I think Microsoft now has decided to change everything with release of windows 8 and Ms Office 2013 is no exception to that. MS Office 2013 is going to be the most ambitious release from Microsoft.
Based on my personal experience after interacting with various Microsoft product lovers, people tend to get confused with new releases and various features. Here in this post I am just trying to simplify the catchy features of Ms Office 2013.
What is Office 2013 –? What is difference between office 2013 and office 365?
Office 2013 is basically a desktop based application as opposed to Office 365 which is subscription based office version. As office 2013 is desktop based, it will be required to be installed on your devices be it, laptop, tablet, desktop Pc or anything. Office 2013 is traditional office product from Microsoft. Office 365 is subscription based cloud service which is not required to be installed on your devices. Office 365 delivers the office 2013 programs as a part of subscription service via Microsoft cloud.
Office 365 is an online subscription service that provides email, shared calendars, the ability to create and edit documents online, instant messaging, web conferencing, a public website for your business, and internal team sites—all accessible anywhere from nearly any device.
If you have Office 2013 installed then you can quickly configure it to work with Office 365 services. Office 365 can also be configured with 2007 and 2010. Office 365 is not office 2013.
For example, If you use Office 2013 alone, the document will be saved on your device or computer. Hence it cannot be access anytime unless you carry your device everywhere. If you have Office 2013 configured to Office 365; then you can save the document to say SkyDrive and can access anytime on any device even if you don’t have your device or laptop or tablet with you.
This is the main difference between the two.

Now let’s have a look at the features of Office 2013.

Nokia PureView 808 – 41 mega pixel camera – Pre-launch review

The company who brings product in market first, gets the benefit of early bird launching. Then same brand name gets used in various similar products. For example, In India, Colgate was the toothpaste brand came first. So many people asks shopkeeper to give “Babool’s Colgate”. So In India Colgate has become a substitute name for tooth paste. Nokia got the same benefit in India in mobile market. Everyone will agree to the fact that, mobile reached to every single person in India mainly because of Nokia. So the equation was – mobile means Nokia. However, in last few years first Motorola, then Sony Ericson and now Samsung is responsible to end this monopoly of Nokia in Indian mobile market.

Now Nokia has again geared up to penetrate deep in Indian mobile market and is keeping all faith in Nokia Lumia. Similar to Nokia, Computer OS giant Microsoft has lost the wave in Mobile market. Therefore both Nokia and Microsoft will be benefitted if Nokia mobiles running on windows OS become popular.

Nokia understands the people pschycology very well and knows that, people will not notice you till you show some miracle. Nokia is about to bring this new miracle with the launch of Nokia PureView 808 mobile. In coming few weeks Nokia Pureview 808 mobile will be launched in India. Nokia is going to take mobile cameras to new height with the launch of Nokia PureView 808. The camera in Nokia PureView 808 is going to be of 41 mega pixels. This is really unbelievable. Nokia is using satellite technology to bring 41 megapixels camera in Nokia PureView 808.

Usually satellites have excellent quality remote sensors to get the pictures of Earth’s surface from space. These remote sensors are used in Nokia PureView 808 by keeping the efficiency same size is reduced. This is why you can also do HD recording in Nokia PureView 808. The experience of Nokia PureView 808 was provided to people who were present in Nokia Strategy Meet during cricket IPL season.

Set top box and DTH Set top box difference. Things to consider while buying Set top box in India

In India, after digitization, TV transmission is going change. This change in TV transmission will start from 1st July 2012 in 4 metro cities of India. With respect to this announcement, customers in India will have to choose either “Direct To Home (DTH) set top box” or “Cable set top box”. Of course It is customer who is going to get benefitted out of this change. However, I saw that, there are many people who are confused about this change and don’t know what are the important points to be considered before buying DTH or Cable set top box. Following are the few points I feel one should consider while going for purchase of Set Top Box in India. First of all let’s understand digitization.
What is Digitization of TV services –
TV signals are currently distributed in India in analog format as well as digital format. Most cable operators within country provides analog format TV services whereas all DTH operators provide digital format TV services. Digitization means that all household TV sets using cable services would receive digital TV signal through Set Top Box. As a part of digitization every cable operator will be legally bound to transmit digital signals, which can be received at subscribers home through set top box only.
Comparing DTH and Cable Service at high level-
At high level if we compare DTH and Cable set to box, then I will say DTH is better. Because, DTH receives signal directly from satellite and reach to the TV through Set top Box; hence the picture quality is extremely good. However, the primary requirement of DTH is, the sky should be clean else disturbance in signal is observed. Signal disruption is a common problem in rainy season in India. Also DTH is costly and few may not find suitable financially. Cable set top box is attached to TV using fiber wires and it is cheaper as compared to DTH service.
DTH providers in India are Dish, Airtel, Sun, Videocon whereas for cable connection in Mumbai, we have Hathway cable, In cable, DigiCable, Den Cable providers. All these DTH and cable providers work as per rules and regulations set by TRAI however, quality of services will vary depending on the company network capabilities.

HTC one V – an android 4.0 powered smart phone from HTC - Features and Review

In the field of smart phone, along with BlackBerry, one more company penetrated deep in the market. The name is HTC. Initially, in the starting age, “smart phones mean HTC” was the trend. After that, Samsung and other few companies stepped into smart phone and HTC had gone on back foot. Now HTC is trying to rise again with new series of smart phones.
Great things in Small Packages
HTC describes their new smart phone HTC one V as “Great things in small Packages”. Main change in HTC 1 V lies in the size!!! The new HTC one V is rectangle in shape however corners are curved. Because of this curvature HTC one V has become easy to hold in hand.
Display
It's a 3.7in LCD panel with a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels. The only downside is that the surface is less oleo phobic (lacking affinity for oils) than other smart phone screens so fingerprints are more vivid.

What is Near Field Communication - NFC

Diabetes patients always have to check the sugar level in blood. Carrying sugar level checking machine everywhere is not possible. But everybody carries mobile with them. What if your mobile has an ability to check the blood sugar level?
Your wife is on shopping. She is in a shop looking at wonderful jeans she always dreamed and suddenly she founds her wallet empty. Now being a poor husband you don’t want to hurt her and out of fear you are ready to give more money, but you found yourself out of cash and no ATM center nearby so that you can go to the ATM, withdraw money and pay the bill. You have the mobile in your hand. What if mobile has an ability to give money to your wife account?
You and your family have decided to go for a vacation with no prior planning. As a matter of fact you want to get the railway tickets. Queue is huge and no possibility of reaching to ticket counter for next few hours. You have the mobile. What if you hold your mobile phone in front of a device and you get the tickets immediately within seconds?
Your colleague is in office working hard to solve a problem. You are on vacation. He calls up you and discusses the problem as he is real need to solve it. You understand problem and draws a solution on paper. Now you need to send this drawing to your collegue but you don’t have scanner not the computer and internet connection. You have mobile. What if you scan the drawing and send the file immediately from your mobile itself?
All anecdotes described above are quite easily possible now with new buzz word in technology – NFC Technology.
NFC technology is slowly acquiring every industrial field including medical field as well.

What is NFC?
NFC stands for “Near Field Communication”. NFC is another form of wireless technology. Very much similar to current wireless technologies like Infrared, Bluetooth; NFC is short ranged wireless telecommunication technology.
NFC is new form RFID (Radio Frequency Identification). The typical use of RFID you must have seen outside ATM where no security guard is present. You have to hold you card in front of sensor and door opens automatically. This sensor and card uses RFID.
NFC allows a device to collect and interpret data from another closely location NFC device or tag (panel). NFC uses loosely coupled inductive circuits to exchange power and data (or information) over a short distance usually less than 10 centimeters. NFC tags are passive device and data stored can be retrieved using active devices. NFC tags can be produced at cheaper costs and they get embedded nearly in anything like sticker, posters, glass etc. Especially in Europe and Japan you will find NFC tags in stores used for payment option.

Olympus India – Olympus SZ-30MR review and India price

Electronics field is bringing impossible to possible. Electronics is the only field where today’s dream is tomorrow’s reality. Many times it has been observed that, many inventions look impossible for current science and technology. However those inventions take shape and come in to reality in future.
Few years back, people felt that 10x optical zoom camera is the highest inventions in camera one can achieve. But the reality is different. People are not even thinking buying camera below 1x optical zoom. Same is the case with megapixels. 8 megapixels was the limit but today camera with 8 Mega pixels is considered outdated.
More the Pixels, Worse the Image
The digital cameras means fixed lens digital cameras were facing unique problem. If you increase the megapixels limit then picture clarity gets diminished. Same difficulty was also observed in digital zoom and optical zoom. As optical and digital zoom increased, picture clarity was affected. Obviously before 5 years, doubling the megapixels capacity or doubling zoom capability for fixed lens digital camera was impossible.
Why?
Well Gadgets are becoming more and more compact and camera is no exception to the compact taste of customers. So the compact cameras have to be small and reasonably priced. To cater this need, small image sensors were used in the cameras. Now if I want to increase the pixel count then I have to divide the sensor in smaller and smaller parts. This decreases sensitivity of camera and increases noise in the picture taken as amount of light collected by pixel is smaller.

Also if you plan to increase pixel, resolution gets increased. So fulfil this need, better lenses with higher resolution capability required which are bigger in size and hence cannot fit in small and compact cameras.

 Problem solved
Obviously, if you wanted to make fixed lens camera small pocketsize with high pixels, was next to impossible.

However, technology always keeps changing. Olympus SZ-30MR addresses these problems of lens size, pixels size and zooming.

Review - Panasonic Toughbook CF-53 – Semi rugged notebook from Panasonic. Making notebooks tough for long term reliability

Panasonic toughboook CF – 53 is a noteboook which Panasonic term as toughbook. Loaded with “Core i5 2520M vPro Processor”, Panasonic toughbook is an excellent option for “rough and tough” use of notebooks. The most visible point of Panasonic toughbook is Magnesium alloy case. In Panasonic toughbook CF 53 Magnesium alloy is a part which makes it tough. This is why Panasonic has named it as Toughbook CF 53. Let’s review Panasonic toughbook CF 53 and its features.
Need of Tough notebooks and how Panasonic caters this need –
When you are using laptop or desktop computer, we have to be always very careful about Hard Drive or Hard Disk (HDD). Many times jerk received during laptop cleaning, repairing or moving laptops from one place to another place crashes hard drives easily. Hard drives have all the information and important data so it is very much essential to make ruggedized hard drives and ultimately ruggedized notebooks. Panasonic has identified this business gap and came up with excellent Panasonic toughbooks series.

Panasonic toughbook CF 53 hard drive can withstand drops from 70 to 90 cm height. If you choose “Road Warrior” version then toughbook can work for drop from 90cm heights also. Rather company gives this surety about Toughbook Cf 53. The screen is of 14 inches and it is HD screen (high definition). Toughbook battery is also tough and can work till 10 hours.

Making it Tough –
Many times professionals have to work in extreme environments. In such cases environmental conditions can vary from -20° Celsius to 60° Celsius. Our traditional electronic gadgets can work from 5° Celsius to 50° Celsius only. Beyond this limit software and hardware malfunctions or stops working completely. In such extreme conditions also toughbook can work in normal way which is the biggest advantage Panasonic toughbook offers.

Review – Sony HDR-PJ50V – Sony Projector handycam

Earlier people used to feel on cloud 9 when they used to have handycam. However technology never stops from reinventing and finding new horizons for itself. Also the speed of technology change is massive. If you remember, we used to have CD’s which was replaced with DVD’s. Similarly TV is replaced by HDTV now. Same is the case with video camera. Now Video camera has become HD video camera. HD movie camera gives you clarity same as commercial camera that too with easy handling. On old days people used to have photo albums now people have video albums.

Everyone carries video camera while going for an outing and picnic. People prefer video cameras more than photo cameras as it has moving visuals in it. But the problem with video camera is, small LCD screen.

Although you can view the video, it is not convenient especially when you are large group of friends and everyone willing to see it. Sony has found this business gap camera and came up with fantastic option in HD video camera market with their new model – Sony HDR-PJ 50V.

Let’s look at some salient features of Sony HDR PJ 50V projector handycam –

Almost 2 weeks have past after the sad demise of Steve Jobs. Still people are talking about him and his inventions. And why they should not? Although Steve Jobs is not between us still he has brought a new revolutionary technology at our door step – Voice Recognition.

To enable a machine to understand sound and then enabling it to understand words. Moreover making machine to understand meaning of these words is really a magic. This is not just an invention it is miracle. This is the reason why iPhone 4S has broken all the records of iPhone series.

So what apple has done this time which was absolutely impossible before?
Many mobiles introduced before iPhone 4S had facility of Voice Command. However voice command mobile technology was limited to dialling a number present in address book. Review - Vodafone 555 blue – Facebook phone from Vodafone launched in India. Comparison in HTC CHACHA Vs Vodafone 555 blue.

Vodafone 555 blue review – Facebook phone from Vodafone.
In last 4 years, facebook have changed the face of globe and social networking. Today you will not find even a kid who does not have facebook account. Today, facebook population is more than world’s population. Also facebook played an important role in revolution in Libya, Syria and other Middle East nations. Facebook helped these revolutions to spread like a rapid fire. So it was quite expected that soon mobiles and applications will be launched in the market which are dedicated for facebook only. Recently HTC had introduced its facebook phone as HTC CHACHA.
Now Vodafone has launched its first facebook phone – Vodafone 555 blue.
Here I am writing review of Vodafone 555 facebook phone which I had experienced recently. I am based in India so my review will be based on Vodafone 555 launched in India. However, except prizes, rest of the things should be similar in my review.

Less expensive connectivity –
In India, Vodafone 555 costs only Rs. 4950. This phone is kept purposefully cheaper to attract students. Students and young people will definitely be surprised after looking at the price of Vodafone facebook phone. Vodafone 555 blue is not launched for people who use smartphones. There is lot of differences in smart phone and facebook phone. So the question arises what is there provided in facebook phone?
The main advantage of Vodafone 555 blue is it provides you connectivity at very low prize. Obviously facebook is the heart of Vodafone 555 blue phone. I felt that, Vodafone 555 blue is mainly manufactured for people of age 12 to 25 who are addicted to facebook but not very technology savvy.
Smart Look –
Vodafone 555 blue is very attractive. It looks is very similar to smartphones. Its outside construct is very attractive. The front color is silver. Keypad is of type QWERTY keypad. The keypad of Vodafone 555 blue has a special key named as “facebook”. The screen is black in color. It is very light weight mobile having only 12mm thickness. It has 2 mega pixel camera and a slot for micro SD card. The earphone jack is present at the top and below screen 5 navigation keys are available.
The navigation pad provided in the middle is also very good. The left hadn side of Vodafone 555 blue has volume key. Along with camera, LED flash is also provided on back side. Screen is of 2.4 inces size and pixel resolution is 320x240 pixels.

EDGE and 2G –
Vodafone 555 blue operates on EDGE (Enhanced Data Rates for GSM Evolution) and 2G technology. Please note that, this phone does have facility of Wi-Fi. The processor of Vodafone 555 blue is just of 200 MHz. So if you are planning to run fast running applications then this phone is a bad choice.
Once you turn on, the first information is asked about facebook account only. You can use this phone after login to facebook account. Vodafone 555 blue is completely based on java technology.
Like most of the mobiles, Vodafone 555 blue also provides shortcut creation facility. There is scroll bar below screen where you can find frequently used shortcuts.
No auto Update –
When you press facebook key, you directly reach to facebook application. However, many times you will observe that, phone is not showing updates of facebook. Most of the time, phone displays old updates only. Vodafone should have provided on-air auto update. When you click on Internet Apps, I had expected that, it will display some new applications whereas it displays calculator and notes editor. In short, it is not a smart phone so don’t keep high expectations.
Enriched User Interface –
The user interface of Vodafone 555 blue is very similar to facebook. Vodafone achieved this very elegantly. So Vodafone 555 blue will be more popular in facebook lovers. The part which everyone will like most is Contact Book. Once you login to your facebook account, you will be able to see profile pictures in your contact book. This is really a nice feature which everyone will like the most. Especially for collegians. Till today still some smart phone has problem of merging SIM card contacts and phone contacts. However Vodafone has solved this problem in much better way. Many smart phone companies have failed in phone contact and SIM card contacts merging. To provide such a high end feature in such a low cost phone is really appreciable thing provided by Vodafone.
When facebook opens in this phone, the upper part has options like info, wall, likes, and photos. When you click for seeing photos, it takes lot of time and user gets frustrated.

Integrated Messaging - The speakers of Vodafone 555 blue are of good quality. You will not hear any interruption while calling or listening at other end during call. Also calling is made easy with some specific arrangements. Call log is present on only one key which makes it more users friendly.
The fantastic feature in Vodafone 555 blue is “Integrated Messaging”. Vodafone has provided excellent integration in messaging. Options of SMS, MMS, facebook and email are available in only one scroll. This helps to find all these features at one place. Special thing about the user interface of messaging is that, it is kept exactly similar as facebook.
At first while using qwerty key pad user will find it difficult to press the particular key as the distance between two keys is very less. However, once you get used to, it will be not be a big problem.
Vodafone 555 blue has 2 mega pixel camera. Although photo colors matches with real colors while capturing, the captured photo colors becomes blackinsh. So users will not be able to upload the captured photographs on facebook as it is. Vodafone should have provided any photo editing tool in Vodafone 555 blue. Also you shoot video but you can’t upload it to facebook from Vodafone 555 blue phone. This could be the big disappointment for all facebook phone lovers.
Music Player and FM Radio –
Everyone loves music. Music player and FM radio facility is an integral part of any mobile. So it is also present in Vodafone 555 blue. Both music player and radio facility in Vodafone 555 blue works great; however, songs cannot be transferred from USB. Users will have to depend on Bluetooth only. The internal memory is about 400MB and you can extend it to 16GB by using SD cards.
Battery Life -
Battery of Vodafone 555 blue works great. Company officials say that, it can work till 3 hrs of talk time and has 324 hrs of standby time. The battery is of lithium iron type.

Palringo instance messaging –
People who have their Gmail and facebook contacts different, for them palringo instant messenger is provided in Vodafone 555 blue. For internet browsing Opera mini browser has been provided.

Features liked most -
1.     Integration done with respect to contacts and messging.
2.     Facebook like user interface
3.     Battery Life

Features missing –
3G connectivity, Wi-Fi, USB missing. This phone is going to be compared with HTC CHACHA.
Let’s have a comparison between Vodafone 555 blue and HTC CHACHA.
Difference between HTC CHACHA and Vodafone 555 blue is as follows -

4G Terminal – Samsung invented first commercial 4g communication terminal

4G Terminal – Samsung invented first commercial 4g communication terminal
In india, 3G has just started now. All mobile service providers are slowly started moving towards 3G just now. However scientists are already working on development of future mobile technology - 4G.

Samsung is known for hitting home run in mobile communication technology. This time again Samsung have dominated other mobile generation companies. Samsung India has invented world’s first commercial 4G terminal. This is world’s first commercial 4G communication terminal. 4G terminal developed by Samsung is a special type of Protocol Stack which is used for communicating with mobile towers.
Samsung has just invested 70 million dollars in India manufacturing unit. It seems that the results of this huge investment are becoming visible. No doubt that development of 4G terminal has given Samsung an edge over other mobile player companies.

Mobiles always keep communicating with nearest mobile tower. The protocol stack used in mobile and tower communication is very important. Protocol stack decides the life of mobile battery. Means mobile battery consumption will be decided by the protocol stack used in communication between mobile and mobile tower. 4G protocol stack developed by Samsung is invented by Indian scientists and now it is open to world for commercial use. So this 4G terminal will be used by other mobile companies also. The patent of first 4G terminal stack is now with Samsung. This is really great achievement for Samsung and more specifically to Indian scientists.
Samsung is about to launch first two “4G” mobile based on this protocol stack in coming months in US. In few months they will be available across the globe.
